The MINISCAN Barcode reader v1.1b
This program will allow you to scan barcodes and download them to a program of your choice in the computer. It is compatible with Microsoft Word / Excel / Notepad and many other programs.
The scanner will hold up to about150 barcodes, has only two buttons, the large one to add and the smaller one to remove barcodes if you accidentally scanned one twice.
FIRST COPY THE MINISCAN DIRECTORY PLUS THE FILES
From A;\ to C:\ MAKE SURE THE FILE csp2.dll has been copied into the same directory. Set up a desktop icon for Miniscan.exe to run the application.
THEN with the computer turned off plug the cable into a spare COM port. IF USB VERSION
Install USB driver from disk when new hardware found shows follow prompts on screen.
START THE MINISCAN APPLICATION
Then make sure the program you wish to download the barcodes into is running.
The first time you run the program, you need to set up a few things such as your COM port and choose whether you want just barcode information or barcode plus barcode type etc. The former has been set as the default.
You can now select whether or not you want to automatically delete the processed barcodes after the upload has completed to avoid duplication. You can do this by selecting the Auto clear barcodes check box if required - this is the default.
Having scanned the required barcodes, plug the cable into the MINISCAN.
Click on Get all barcodes button to upload the data from the MINISCAN. A shortcut key (F10) is also set for this. Once the barcodes have been uploaded, you then select which program/window to send the barcodes. The first time this is run it will also need setting up.
To set this up or change it in the future, click the advanced button.
ADVANCED SET UP
There are three lists on this screen, the one on the left is the internal Windows name of all running applications on your machine. The list in the middle is the name of the active screens running within those programs.
For instance for Notepad, on the left side you see "Notepad" and in the middle you see "Untitled - Notepad", this can be helpful in finding the correct screen as often it is difficult to find which entry relates to which program. For instance MS Word 2000 lists as "OpusApp" on the left and "Document1 - Microsoft Word" in the middle, and XLMAIN for Microsoft Excell.
Highlight the program you require on the left and check the correct screen is given in the middle, then click Add. This will add it to the right hand side user list, and ask you to give it a name you understand.
You can repeat this for any others you need, but remember to have the applications running
or they will not appear in the list. You can also delete entries from this box at any time. When complete click Done, you will now have them in a drop down box to pick next time.
Once you have the appropriate window from the drop down box, click the Select button and the barcodes will be sent to that window. A file named Barcodes.txt will also be produced in the MINISCAN directory at the same time if you should ever need it.
